I heard there was an abandoned CPR rail trail to bike ride in Castlegar BC so I loaded up my bike and headed west! This trail is about 90km long running from Castlegar BC to Christina Lake BC. We did about half of the route before turning back to Castlegar. The day started out sunny and beautiful, but quickly turned into a windy rainy bike ride. That was completely okay though because we brought our rain gear with us! Highly recommend a trip to Castlegar to check out this awesome biking trail!
The strong history of this trail is intriguing, the beauty of the surrounding area will keep you smiling and the feeling of the air in BC is different and like a warm hug!
Biking beside this lake was a lot safer than the boat trip I went on! Arrow lake is a large body of water, and the wind and weather can change quickly! Luckily made it off the lake safely to enjoy my bike ride.

Do you see the black bear tucked into the treeline on the right? Do you also see the family stuck down the trail a little? They were too scared to ride passed the bear, which is completely understandable. 2 parents with 2 small children. We didn't feel threatened by the bear, so we rode down and escorted them safely passed the bear. With 6 of us passing by with the kids in the middle, we got the family to the other side safely. Only for us to turn around and ride passed the bear again. Making 3 trips passed this patient black bear in Castlegar BC.
