After the area was closed in 2022 for updates, I was curious how this trail looked afterwards. I must say they did a great job. You used to have to criss-cross the creek a few times, resulting in wet feet. But now, there are enough bridges that anyone can do this hike and stay dry too! It's about 2.5km out and back, a nice short hike for toddlers. Enjoy beautiful wildflowers, avoid the wind, meander up Allison Creek until you hit the gorgeous Allison Falls. You'll see remnants of the old dam at the very top of the falls. Located near Chinook Lake Alberta in Coleman.
Chinook Lake is often referred to as Allison Lake. Although that is not it's name, Allison Creek and Allison Falls are found here as well, so easy to understand why people may call is Allison Lake.
Once you're off the main path away from Chinook Lake, you'll come to a fork for the Great Divide Trail, or Allison Falls. Finally a sign to let you know you're on the right track
There was something about how the water is moving beneath this tree, and the way the roots are growing that had my attention and made me smile with its beauty
Allison Creek was hit very hard in the floods of 2013. Many groups have come together to accelerate the regrowth in the area and bring it back to how it once was.
