Spring has arrived in Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada, and the days are starting to get a little longer and a little warmer. Iceberg season is just around the corner and sea ice and bergy bits fill the bays around the Avalon Peninsula. As a result, more people are starting to get out and about - including me!
This weeks adventures have taken me for Reiki and hot tubbing in Pouch Cove, filming a series on “Jelly Bean Row”, eating Sushi in Downtown St. John’s, tasting cider at Bannerman Brewing and viewing sea ice at Topsail Beach! Getting outside in nature daily is so critical to health and wellness! It helps me to feel grounded.

A “mermaid’s purse” is a tough leathery pouch that protects a developing shark or skate embryo. I found a large quantity of these pouches on the beach.
Torbay was filled with pack sea ice in early Spring. Multiple icebergs were visible from my home near the East Coast Trail. The sea ice has since been swept back out to sea with the tide.
Sea ice filed Conception Bay, Newfoundland, for the first time since I relocated back to the island. It was mesmerizing to watch the ice move with the swell of the sea and the tides.
Newfoundland made cider is growing in popularity on the island and making an appearance in craft breweries such as Bannerman. I really enjoyed this refreshing drink after exploring the colourful houses on “jelly bean row’ in downtown St. John’s.
“Jelly Bean Row” in downtown St. John’s, Newfoundland is a colourful work of art. The clapboard townhomes are painted in bright bold colours making St. John’s one of the most colourful cities in Canada.
Bannerman craft brewery vibes! Knit hats, plants, people watching, coffee, drinks and delicious food! I love popping in here when I am visiting downtown St. John’s.
