Twin Lakes is a campground located within Crimson Lake Provincial Park in central Alberta near the town of Rocky Mountain House. There is a lovely fair sized lake with fantastic trails and docks surrounding the area. I am not sure why they call it Twin Lakes... We saw 1 Lake. Looking at Google maps, it looks like there is a pond or 2 not far away, but definitely no twin lake to be found.
The Twin Lakes Campground is open seasonally mid May to mid September. There are 39 unserviced campsites just steps from the lake. Reservations should be made online up to 90 days before your planned arrival.
One of the best parts of Twin Lakes is the wheelchair accessible trails! A small parking lot leads you to a gorgeous boardwalk overtop of the marsh and out to a small island with large viewing docks. Definitely a wonderful spot to relax and enjoy nature.
With so many areas to wander, it's a great family friendly location. Fishing is a top activity here at Twin Lakes. It is a trout lake but there are perch swimming around as well. There are multiple boat launches around the lake giving easy access. Washrooms are available as well as a fair sized day use area on the shoreline.
Little seeker is slowly developing a fear of water. I'm unsure where that's coming from, but she did great navigating her way across the boardwalk and docks.
This October has been quite nice for weather. Other than the wind, it's been a mild October. We got lucky and it was a calm afternoon for a lake adventure
It's always nice to see wheelchair accessible trails out in nature. Especially around a lake. Twin Lakes offers scenic lake trails that are usable by anyone.
I did not see any signs about limits for this lake. With multiple boat launch areas, I believe all boats and motors are allowed here. Unlike some other lakes where it's hand powered only.
The day use area is open year round and is found at the far end of the road around Twin Lakes. There is a fair sized parking lot and washrooms available
There was only 1 section out if many that we found in bad shape. Most of the docks are in perfect condition. Except this one on the far side of the island
