The Field of Crosses is a well touching memorial found along the Bow River in Calgary, Alberta. Just across from downtown, along Memorial Drive. Follow the poppy signs down along the road to 200 Memorial Drive parking lot. Small fee payable to a pay machine in the lot, for parking at this fair sized area right beside the crosses.
There are 3500 crosses up, and it takes a lot of wonderful volunteers to make this happen.
Every morning and evening, you can catch a special remembrance day event at sunrise and sunset, from November 1 to November 11. It's extra moving visually at night when every cross has a candle lit in front of it. Day or night, it's worth wandering through and reading about some of our lost soldiers. Some crosses will have detailed information sheets to read, while others do not.
