Kinbrook Island Provincial Park is a huge beautiful campground located on the beautiful shores of Lake Newell near Brooks Alberta Canada. With 199 campsites available, it can get pretty busy around here. Weekdays are usually the easiest to get into this campground and also the quietest times to visit with the beach more to yourself than on the weekends. Lots of great fishing opportunities, watersports, walking trails as well as an awesome playground for the kids. Kinbrook Island Provincial Park is open for camping year round!
I think this is absolutely the most adorable, unique and well themed Free Little Library I have ever seen. Located right in Kinbrook Island Provincial Park for everyone to enjoy
Seeing as there are 199 campsites available, some are big, some are small. Some have trees and some are in what looks like an open field. Do your homework if what the campsite looks like matters to you. They are vastly different. Some offer...
Seeing as there are 199 campsites available, some are big, some are small. Some have trees and some are in what looks like an open field. Do your homework if what the campsite looks like matters to you. They are vastly different. Some offer service hookups and others are unserviced sites. I had pre-booked, never seeing the park before. I was very glad I did a drive through prior to our actual stay, because I was able to change my campsite to an unserviced site with trees and privacy.
*Firepit artwork was already provided upon arrival*
You will typically find me tent camping. But once in awhile the trailer comes out for more of a glamping experience. I actually find trailer camping more work then tenting it. But the trailer is great for bad weather weekends and we did get some...
You will typically find me tent camping. But once in awhile the trailer comes out for more of a glamping experience. I actually find trailer camping more work then tenting it. But the trailer is great for bad weather weekends and we did get some thunderstorms over our stay at Kinbrook Island. The trailer was a good choice for this trip.
Being a very very active lake, you need to stay alert and aware of who or what is around you. We had some seadoos ripping around near us, and they were pretty close to the beach as well. Lake Newell is huge! No need to play overtop of others.
Yes, even your cute well behaved fido is not welcome on the beach. Don't be that entitled person who thinks the rules don't apply to you. It always amazes me the amount of people who bring their dogs down dispite the quite obvious signage. Take...

The day use area at Kinbrook Island is very large and even has firepits for day use. There are washrooms located right behind the beach near the boat launch parking lot
Here is an example of a campsite at Kinbrook Island Provincial Park. Each comes with a picnic table and a firepit. Watch for their irrigation system when you set up so you aren't woken up by an unexpected morning shower
Just east of the beach is a concession stand with treats and food. Beside the concession is another block of day use area seating as well as a group firepit
The playground can be a busy place some days and maybe best your bring your chair if you'd like to sit and relax while the kids play. That or take a rest on the large greenspace surrounding the playground
