Porcupine Hills are a PLUZ (Public Land Use Zone) in south western Alberta. A fantastic area to get out on your ATVs, UTVs and this time of year is phenomenal for snowmobiling! Plenty of areas for crownland camping. The views are fantastic and winter is no exception. We recently got a huge snowfall and I brought my snowshoes out to see how they would do!
Make sure you stay centered on these snowy back roads. You can easily get sucked into the deeper snow on the sides and there is no cell service in Porcupine Hills. Come prepared.
Although it is winter, and it is unlikely you will see a bear, you are not guaranteed they will be sleeping! Bring your bear spray all year. We also have a super high population of cougars in this area and they do not hibernate over winter so...
