A lesser known waterfall in southern Alberta, the Oldman River Falls. Located down Oldman River Road in the Livingstone PLUZ, at the KM19 marker. There is no cell service out this way so be prepared for where you are going ahead of time. Having a map helps in this area. The Livingstone PLUZ is an area where you are allowed to go random camping in Alberta.

There is a small parking area available at the KM19 mark and short walk to the falls. You are in the backcountry. There are no guardrails and the terrain is hilly and steep here, so be careful. Additionally, you will be traveling down a bumpy gravel road to get there.

As always, depending on what time of the year you visit a waterfall, the flow will vary. Considered a low flow at this time of the year, July, it still had quite a roar to it.

Additonally, take a stop around the KM7 mark along Oldman River Road to find a smaller unnamed waterfall as well.

Pro Tip- Backroads Maps would have you believe Oldman Falls is near the Gap. I would say ignore that as it is incorrect. The real Oldman Falls is located west of the Forestry Trunk Rd. You will find some rapids and small falls where they have marked in the Southern Alberta books though.

The Oldman is a very important waterway in southern Alberta. Keeping this water clean for its journey is crucial. It's stunning how beautifully clear it is up this way. The water is always cold in this area!

A fantastic fishing destination in the backcountry of Alberta. You are surrounded by wildlife here with minimal other humans around. Be prepared and make lots of noise while exploring.

This waterfall can be a rager in the spring. Mid summer it still has a lot of force behind it too!

A huge amount of downed trees in the river, make for quite the buildup on top of the Oldman River Falls.

While mom's investigating the falls, little seeker scouts out a safe beach area to play along the Oldman river afterwards.
I often ask her if she sees anywhere she'd like to go, and if she has spotted an easy way to get there.

Having fun exploring the Oldman Falls. I wouldn't actually recommend this area for small children as it's quite dangerous. I couldn't do as much exploring as I normally would due to not wanting little seeker to get hurt. The terrain is unforgiving, so be smart and careful.

Probably due to the fact there is no cell service out here, it's a rather quiet, less visited waterfall in the province of Alberta.

As the water melts and finds its way from the headwaters here in Alberta, it flows into the South Saskatchewan River and eventually from there, out into Hudsons Bay.

It was a windy but sunny day out in the Livingstone PLUZ. There are various unofficial trails down to the Oldman waterfall.

In the small parking lot at kilometre marker 19 you'll see this sign about the native cutthroat trout found in this area.
